Building Long Bookshelves That Don’t Sag
This video goes through the build process of a mahogany bookcase I built for my friend. He needed 320 inches of shelf space to hold his heavy heavy law books in his office. Without wanting to build 2 separate bookcases or build in a divider for support, I decided to use a different type of shelf construction (similar to an "I-beam") to build shelves almost 60" wide that don't sag!
I used a similar version in my dad's home office for shelves that spanned 5 feet & 7 feet and were only supported at the ends. For pictures & video of that project, visit: www.triplerwoodworks.com/#/homeoffice/

How to Build The Mobile Workbench - Detailed Walkthrough

Shop Tour January 2018
Переглядів 1,3 тис.6 років тому
This is the first shop tour video I have done. In the past, I haven't really had a dedicated shop because it's been in the garage where I had to store many more items that I didn't want to get dusty/dirty. The video is chopped up quite a bit because I rambled and talked about a lot of extra information, so this is the "meat & potatoes". I was the guy all throughout school that had to lengthen m...
Wood Dust Collection System - 2.0
Переглядів 2,4 тис.6 років тому
After moving into a new house with a dedicated shop, the 16-gallon Ridgid shop vac was no longer efficient enough to do what I needed. My first central vacuum system was 2" PVC with the shop vac & cyclone, but it didn't pull as much air as I wanted it to, and I was still needing more drops and blast gates. Now that I have more space, I wanted to go big and get a better vacuum and cyclone to han...
Mobile Workbench 2.0 - Upgrades for Efficiency
Переглядів 1,2 тис.6 років тому
In early 2015 I built a mobile workbench to save some space in the shop, consolidate tools, and have a bigger bench to assemble projects on. 2017 is now winding down and I just recently made some upgrades to the workbench to make it even more efficient to fit my needs and take up more space that I now have available. For all of you safety police out there: Between filming and uploading, I decid...
Shop Updates: Planting Trees (First Measurements), New Shop, More Videos

I decided to buy some trees from a local tree farm that I could cut down when I'm old and make something awesome. Because I wanted to see how they progressed and to make sure I was watering them right, I took measurements shortly after they were planted. I plan on taking more measurements every year to keep checking in with the growth. Here are the first ones, enjoy! To check out the math invol...
Math in Woodworking - Episode 4 (Calculating Height of a Tree)
Переглядів 4,2 тис.6 років тому
I had a crazy idea to plant some trees now and when I get older, cut them down, mill them, and build stuff out of the lumber! I want to measure the height and trunk diameter every year so I needed a good way to do it. I measured the height using proportions of shadows of the tree and me. I calculated the diameter of the trunk with a flexible tape measure and then checked my work with averaging ...

When I finish the "Custom Home Office - Part 3" video, you will find a link in this description. Enjoy!

If I'm understanding correctly, that's about $30+ worth of steel flats per shelf? I'm assuming the thinnest and longest I see on Lowe's site (1/8" x 3/4" x 4').

Fits well into my space, I painted the back green. It's very easy to customize just the back if that's something you want to do. I would suggest sanding it first before painting, I got a little impatient. The shelves ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxM8H4CjCb79vzeyvgaFMdzmLm88oVFPMkare pretty small so keep that in mind if you're going to have it horizontal that some books won't fit. I like the snug look that it has. Good small shelf if you don't have much space, but not too small. Simple to put together, though you'll need your own tools, a screwdriver and a mallet/hammer, it's easiest to do with another person.

Very cool. I am in process of building one for over our hot tub. Like the idea of using a router to cut the ends. Jigsaw is a bit of a pain. Plus, I was just drawing it out, then cutting. I am using 8s on top, but I like the 6s you have here.
